about

“Release”: The opening track addresses the fact that sometimes the more aggressively you chase a goal in life, the more it seems to elude you. It’s about letting go and believing in fate. Riding the wave and having faith that you will be washed ashore where you belong. This song alternates between different time signatures and has elements of Rush, U2, and I even throw in a wild fiddle solo at the end.
-Joe Deninzon

lyrics

RELEASE
(Joe Deninzon)

You can hunt love but it will find you as soon as you lay down your guns
Surrounded by thoughts that can blind you of being the unfortunate one
You can chase fate but it will catch you by sneaking on you from behind
You can pray for someone to save you but miss out on all of the signs

(aaah)

Lay down your weapons
Release your hold
Don’t try to fight what you can’t control
The wave will push you home to the shore
The water knows what you’re looking for

If you chase storms they’re gonna catch you
They’ll rape you and clarify
The things never really mattered too big for your naked eye
You can smother all your possessions but they’ll only turn to sand
They’ll slip slowly through your fingers and leave you with empty hands

(aaah)

Lay down your weapons
Release your hold
Don’t try to fight what you can’t control
The wave will push you to friendly shores
The water knows how to get you home get you home get you home

Inherit all that you have conquered
The rebel becomes the king
The life spent on every ocean
You’ve not learned a single thing
